For this project I tried to pull the points that stood out to me most throughout the book. I placed a picture of the book in the middle of my diagram to show that all of these points came from the book. The first branch that I made was "The Innovators Mindset." From here I broke down the eight different key points of an innovators mindset. From here I went to the "The Innovator Educator." This section talks about the questions that educators should ask about their classes. These questions I thought were very powerful. I think they should be questions that all educators ask before each lesson or school day. Since reading this book I have found myself asking, "Do I want to be a student in my classroom?, "Is this the best for my students?, as well as reflection, "How did this work four my students?". These questions have allowed my classroom to become more empowered as well as the students becoming more innovative and self-motivated. Relationships is another key point that I pulled out of the book. I really like how the book talked about giving students opportunities and building a trusting relationship with them. By us saying yes more often will allow them to succeed as well as fail in a safe setting and learn from this decisions. Having high expectations for the students is another key. Making sure that the students know that as a teacher you are there for them and you want them to be the best they can be.
For the rest of the popplet I pulled three very important pictures from the book. The first talks about what do you want leaders to do with technology. This gives examples of how I can as a teacher become a better leader for my school, students, and coworkers. The next image is what do we want kids to do with technology. This allows myself as the students to have the right mindset about technology. I have both of these posters printed out and hung right beside my desk so I can see them multiple times throughout the day. The final picture I inserted talks about the eight things to look for in today's classroom. The image itself talks about what to look for in students. I also like the section in the book that talked about what to look for in educators in today's classroom, so I placed that information below it.
This book has opened my eyes up to becoming a better teacher. There is so many styles and techniques that go along with becoming and innovative teacher. I hope to read this book again soon and continue to keep improving my teaching to become more an innovative teacher, as well as help other educators around me to become better as well.
