The framework that I found most interesting and relevant to my current situation is the Microsoft's Education Transformation Framework. I have read and studied the TPACK and SAMR models before and believe they are very powerful as well but Microsoft's Framework was a great direction for my situation. I really like how the framework breaks the ten key points into two sections. These are Leadership and Policy, and 21st Century Pedagogy. Both of these are the main staples of what I am looking for when developing and integrating technology for our school district. Our school district is very supportive of technology but we do not have the best plan or vision in place. This first part of the book has already got me thinking about where we want to go and how we can create a better opportunity of technology for our students and district. The first part of the Microsoft Framework is establishing a vision. This is were I will be starting. I really like the steps that follow. Finding partnerships will be great. I have already established a great connection with DSU through my undergraduate, master's program, and cyber security curriculum. I am excited to continue and advance our partnership as well as look for others. The next part of the policy is important. Finding our organizations capacity and making sure the technology is being use correctly. Checking for quality assurance.
The 21st century pedagogy leads into how we want our school to run with technology. Finding ways to personalize learning for the students. Developing a learning community and making sure their are effective ways to connect curriculum and content through assessment in the classroom using technology. Finally we must make sure that our physical learning environments are safe and interactive for the students.
Our current vision allows for K-2nd Graders to have iPads, 3rd -8th Graders to have Chromebooks, and 9th-12th Graders to have laptops. This allows for our students to gain access to all of the main operating systems that are available. They will leave our school with the ability to work on any platform. The Microsoft Framework allows my school district to take what we have in place and make it better. I feel that we have a good start but just need to make the policies and vision more distinct and concise. I am excited to continue working on this with the help of the class and the framework.
