Technology in Education
Technology is a standard of the future, and so it should be a standard in education as well. Technology is a very powerful tool when used correctly in an educational setting. Teachers need to have an understanding of how the technology needs to be used to enhance and enrich learning. So many times I have seen teachers use technology just for the fact of using the technology. This does not allow the students to learn and enrich the material that they are learning. The following courses and projects have given me a further understanding of what it means to use technology in a classroom, to allow students research and explore, as well as enrich and empower students to continue learning.
Objectives:
1. Be proficient in the use and application of computer software.
2. Be proficient with a programming language.
3. Develop the skills needed to maintain computer programs, computer systems and networks.
4. Use telecommunications-based tools to integrate information into the classroom and the curriculum.
5. Integrate computer software, authoring tools, programming languages, the Internet, and multimedia into curriculum design and instruction.
6. Demonstrate proficiency using computers and related technologies in instruction.
7. Demonstrate proficiency in teaching and assessing others in the use of computers and related technologies in a variety of educational settings.

3 Credits - Summer 2018
Overview/Projects:

This course allowed me to learn how to transmit information in a purposeful way and how text combined with relevant visuals is a better way to learn. The course allowed me to use different visual learning tools. These tools have had instant impact within my classroom. Students can use infographics to put boring text into creating and attractive sheets of information. Creating videos allows them to take text and put it into speech and visual concepts to learn from.

Computer hardware was the only face-to-face class for thsi master's program. I really enjoyed the ability to work hands on with computers and improve my knowledge of computer hardware. The class allowed us to set into a technology coordinator's shoes and design a technology plan for a school. We also were able to research different aspects of technology that were interesting and connected to our personal situations. I research cloud computing and how computer hardware will be and is changing as more technology is stored in the cloud.

This course allowed me to learn how to evaluate technology. The course allowed me to look at technology plans and how they can help a district improve the use of technology. The course also allowed me to understand how to evaluate individual technologies and if they are something that a school district should adapt. I really enjoyed learning about ignite talks as well within this course. They are a very powerful way to get information to and audience.
